FootballReal Madrid Line Up Man City Striker As Target if Kylian Mbappe Bid Fails
- Real Madrid want to sign Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez within the next year
- Alvarez has emerged as a back-up option if the club's bid for Kylian Mbappe fails
- Alvarez has scored twice in four games for Manchester City this season
Manchester City striker, Julian Alvarez has emerged as a top transfer target for Real Madrid next summer, with the future of Kylian Mbappe still uncertain.
Los Blancos are still in search of a striker to replace Karim Benzema, who left for Al-Ittihad. Mbappe is the club’s first choice to replace their former captain.
According to Sport Bible, Alvarez is among the options Real Madrid have highlighted as potential back-ups if the move for Mbappe does not materialise next summer.
Although the Argentine attacker won the treble in his debut season with Pep Guardiola's team and has 19 goals in 55 games for Manchester City, he frequently plays second fiddle to talisman Erling Haaland in the Etihad Stadium striker hierarchy.
Alvarez has a long-term contract at Manchester City that runs until the summer of 2028, but Real Madrid will push to sign the forward next summer.
City open to selling Alvarez
Manchester City are open to the idea of cashing in on Alvarez next summer, Four Four Two reports.
Alvarez won the treble with Manchester City last season, but there is a perception in Madrid that he would be open to moving there if the promise of regular first-team minutes was made.
However, if Alvarez were to depart, Manchester City might look to Brighton's Evan Ferguson as a potential player to take his position.
City win UCL, Alvarez makes history
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester City completed the historic treble after beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final thanks to a powerful shot from Rodrigo.
The Cityzens were favourites to win it against the Italians, and even though they looked shaky at first and lost star man Kevin De Bruyne to a first-half injury, they found a way to win.
World Cup winner Julian Alvarez was an unused substitute, but it did not rob him of making history after his team prevailed.
