  • Barcelona forward Ansu Fati appears to be on his way out of the club
  • He has fallen down the pecking order and is seeking more playing time
  • Brighton’s bid to sign the Spanish forward on loan is now under threat

Ansu Fati’s bid to join Brighton and Hove Albion on loan from Barcelona could be set for a late twist after another La Liga team entered the race to sign the Spanish forward.

Brighton has taken pole position in the race to sign the Spanish forward touted as the 'next Messi', but injuries have seen him drop down the pecking order at the Catalan club.

According to Football Espana, a late option to stay in Spain has emerged for Fati - should the Barcelona youngster so desire - as they claim a 'top' La Liga club has moved late to try and persuade him to join them.

The Spanish club has argued that the best thing for the 20-year-old forward is to stay in the country's top flight due to the fact he is already comfortable there after spending his formative years with Barcelona.

Fati had been linked with Chelsea, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and Tottenham Hotspur, who opened talks with Barcelona over a loan deal, but the Spaniard snubbed all offers except for Brighton.

Playing time Fati’s deciding factor

Fati has decided to leave Barcelona this summer as the 20-year-old forward is in search of playing time this season, which seems unlikely he will get at Barcelona, MARCA reports.

In the three games played in La Liga for the Catalan giants, he has not started a single match and has a total of 47 minutes despite the absence of Raphinha due to a two-match suspension.

Xavi Hernandez has opted to give other players a chance, like 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, which has prompted the former Barcelona wonderkid to seek a new club this summer.

Brighton closing in on Fati

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Fati possibly joining the Premier League with the Barcelona forward reportedly closing in on a sensational loan move to Brighton.

The 20-year-old has struggled to get some playing time with the Catalan giants, having been named as a substitute in their first three league games of this season.

Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes and his father, Bori have been trying to convince the young star to go to another team on loan this season for him to play regular football.
