The Yamal-Gavi combo shot Xavi Hernandez's charges into the lead after 12 minutes. While the lead was important for the reigning La Liga champions, it also marked a watershed for Lamine.

According to Opta, at 16 and 45 days old, Yamal became the youngest player to register a La Liga assist in the 21st century.

In reaching his milestone, the 16-year-old passed another La Masia graduate and current holder of the famous No.10 shirt, Ansu Fati, as the youngest player to record a La Liga assist this century.

Lamine's other La Liga record

The Spanish-born winger of Moroccan descent is not new to shredding records, as he also holds the record as the youngest-ever debutant for Barcelona in La Liga history.

At 15 years, nine months and 16 days, a new prodigy was presented to the football world. Lamine Yamal became the youngest-ever debutant for the Catalan giants in La Liga.

The teen sensation was handed his debut by manager Xavi Hernandez in the game against Real Betis on April 29 at the Camp Nou.

The product of Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, who turned 16 in July, was brought on in the 84th minute to replace Gavi.

Lamine shines in chaotic win

Sports Brief also reported that Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal shone in a thrilling 4-3 win for the Spanish champions at Villarreal on Sunday in La Liga.

The 16-year-old winger, making only his second start for the club, hit the woodwork twice and set up the opening goal for Gavi in an impressive performance that stood out amid a chaotic battle.
