  • Harry Kane wants to play at the top level for the next seven or eight years
  • The England captain recently joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur
  • Kane is 30, and if he remains healthy, he can do it

After weeks of speculation, Harry Kane finally completed his move to Bayern Munich two weeks ago from Tottenham Hotspur for a deal worth £100 million - which is a Bayern and Bundesliga record.

Kane was brilliant for Tottenham in the last few seasons, where he became one of the best strikers in the world. He recently said he wants to match Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's longevity.

The England captain won the Premier League Golden Boot three times, but trophies were hard to come by in North London. Last season, for instance, he scored 30 Premier League goals, but his team had a disappointing season. They finished eighth and are still without a trophy since 2008, per Sky Sports.

At Bayern, however, he has a chance to win trophies. The German giants won their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title and could win it this season again with Kane in their ranks.

A few seasons ago, Kane struggled with injuries, but it seems he has shaken the injury bug off. If he wants to emulate Ronaldo and Messi, he'll need to stay healthy throughout the season.

Kane wants to emulate Ronaldo and Messi

In a recent interview with German publication Bild, via 90min, Kane said he wants to play at the top level for the next few years.

"I know that when you turn 30 as a footballer, people somehow always have the end in the back of their minds. But I would like to play at the top level for another seven or eight years."

He said he looks at the likes of Ronaldo and Messi and feels it is possible to perform deep into your 30s.

"And the example of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema or Lewandowski shows that it is absolutely possible to achieve top performances when you are a footballer. The decision for FC Bayern was not made because of time pressure, but out of conviction."

Ronaldo and Messi are in their late 30s and are still exceptional footballers. They have been playing at the top level since the mid-2000s and set almost unbreakable records. Can Kane play eight more years?

Kane scored 280 goals in 435 appearances at Spurs - with 213 of those coming in the Premier League.

Kane tipped for Lewandowski’s record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Harry Kane netted his first Bayern Munich goal in the Bavarians’ 4-0 victory against Werder Bremen in his first Bundesliga game, prompting high praise from Lothar Matthaus.

Bayern Munich had struggled to replace Robert Lewandowski last season after the Poland forward joined Barcelona, as the Germans struggled to retain the Bundesliga title on the final day.

Matthaus - a club legend - has tipped Kane to adequately replace Lewandowski with his goals this season, an area where the Bavarians were lacking last season.
