Thousands of fans tuned in at the famous tourist spot to see Messi play on the big screen.

They had to wait a while for the football icon’s first MLS appearance as he started the game on the bench.

He made the wait worthwhile, scoring a close-range strike in the 89th minute to seal the 2-0 win for Inter Miami.

Fans celebrated as Messi scored another goal for the reigning Leagues Cup champs.

Messi's wonderful team goal

It was an incredible team goal by the Herons, which started with DeAndre Yedlin finding Messi with a pass in the middle of the pitch.

Messi immediately passed the ball to Robbie Robinson, who laid it off to Sergio Busquets. The former Barcelona star kept the play moving, finding Jordi Alba on the left side of the pitch with a lob pass.

Busquets' pass to Alba was a bit high, but the Spaniard managed to get it. With his first touch, he delivered an acrobatic pass to Messi, who was inside the box.

The Argentine star immediately attracted the attention of the Red Bulls, with several defenders denying him space.

That posed no problems for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, who delivered a fantastic through ball to Benjamin Cremaschi on the right side of the box. He hit a first-time cross back to Messi, who scored with an easy tap-in, per ESPN.
