It was a fantastic team goal by the Herons, which started with an acrobatic pass by Jordi Alba to Messi.

The 36-year-old wonderfully controlled the ball inside the box with several defenders around him.

He showed tremendous composure, dishing out a majestic through pass to Cremaschi, who was making a run on the right side of the box.

Cremaschi took full advantage of Messi’s pass, hitting a first-time cross back to Messi, who was standing in front of goal.

Messi made no mistake with his tap-in as he scored yet another goal for Inter Miami.

He has now scored 11 goals in nine matches for the Herons since moving to the United States last month, per ABC.

Messi comes off the bench

Fans had to wait for Messi to make his MLS debut on Saturday as Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino named him on the substitutes' bench for the match against New York Red Bulls.

The team functioned well even without him, taking a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute via a strike by Diego Gomez.

What the fans wanted to see Messi was though. They chanted "We want Messi" in the first half to force Inter Miami to put him in the game.

That moment finally arrived in the 60th minute when Messi entered the game as a substitute.

Fans who spent lots of cash to see Messi play got their money's worth in the end, with the Inter Miami star's late strike.
