Stones ruled out until September

The 29-year-old picked up the injury during Manchester City’s preseason tour, per the BBC.

He missed their first two Premier League matches as a result and remained on the bench for City’s Super Cup victory over Sevilla.

The English star will be unavailable for Manchester City's next two Premier League matches against Sheffield United on August 27 and Fulham on September 2.

De Bruyne, Silva also out

Stones wasn’t the only player who missed City’s game against Newcastle due to injury, per Manchester Evening News.

Kevin De Bruyne underwent surgery on his injured hamstring after damaging it in the Premier League opener against Burnley.

The Belgian star could be out of action for at least four months.

Bernardo Silva also didn’t play in City’s last two matches due to illness.

Guardiola talked about his injured stars after the 1-0 win against Newcastle, saying:

"We have to come back; you know how the people come back. John will be after the international break when he will be ready, and Kevin is four or five months."

Manchester City have managed to cope without their injured players, winning their first two Premier League matches and the UEFA Super Cup this month.

Christopher Nkunku injures left knee

Sports Brief also recently reported on Christopher Nkunku suffering a knee injury in Chelsea’s preseason friendly against Borussia Dortmund.

The French star will be out for at least four months after undergoing surgery on his injured left knee.

Nkunku’s injury was a huge blow for Mauricio Pochettino as he played some exceptional football during the Blues’ preseason tour of America.
