Thomas Partey has won his first trophy with Arsenal after producing a strong display in the 2023 Community Shield clash against Premier League champions Manchester City.

A last-gasp equalizer from second-half substitute Leandro Trossard cancelled a Cole Palmer strike for City, forcing the game into penalties.

Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed from the spot as Arsenal converted four of their penalties to win the game 4-1 at Wembley.

Partey played a pivotal role in the middle of the park, winning and distributing balls effortlessly.

"Proud of being part of this amazing team! Big thanks to everyone supporting us," wrote an excited Ghana international on social media after the game.

It was his first silverware with the Gunners since he joined from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020.

The 30-year-old was reportedly on the radar of clubs from Saudi Arabia and Italy, but it seems Mikel Arteta has the Ghanaian in his plans for the new season.

The English Premier League begins on Friday, with Arsenal set to face Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Saturday, August 12, as reported by nottinghampost.com.

Hughton maintains trust in Partey

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton has revealed that midfielder, Thomas Partey's place in his team will not be affected by a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Arsenal midfielder has been linked with a move to Al-Hilal following Arsenal's signing of Declan Rice.

However, the Ghana international has shown a desire to stay at the Emirates after an outstanding pre-season with the Gunners.

Halaand's father: Arsenal for EPL

Erling Haaland's father, Alfie, is taking no prisoners on behalf of the Manchester City striker after he endured a quiet afternoon in the Community Shield.

Arsenal ended their eight-game losing streak to Manchester City with a 4-1 penalty shootout win over the league champions in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.

City appeared to be running away with another one after Cole Palmer scored a beautiful goal, but Leandro Trossard equalised in the 101st minute with a deflected strike off Swiss defender Manuel Akanji.
