Neymar Junior and Paris Saint-Germain have ended their six-year relationship after the forward completed a stunning move to Saudi Pro League club, Al-Hilal.
The 31-year-old, who reportedly fell out with the PSG hierarchy, would likely have wished for a better way to depart the French capital.
Reports suggested the Brazilian star was deemed 'surplus to requirements' and was apparently told he was not part of new coach, Luis Enrique's plans.
This starkly contrasts his time under the same manager at Barcelona, where Neymar had some of his best football.
Since his transfer to the Saudi Pro League side was announced, many have expressed support for the Brazilian star. One name that appears to have caught the attention of many is that of PSG midfielder, Marco Verratti.
Verratti’s message to Neymar
The Italian, who also is said to be on the French club's exit list, per Marca, took to his Instagram Story to send a message to the departing Neymar.
As quoted by Football Tweet, the 30-year-old wrote:
“Just to tell you that it was amazing to have spent all these years together. I love you very much and I wish you the best for this new stage of your life. You are a special friend."
During his stint with PSG, Neymar made over 173 appearances, scoring 118 goals and recording 77 assists.
While he helped the French club win the Ligue 1 title during his time in the capital, he failed to help them lift the UEFA Champions League trophy, reaching the final once.
The Brazilian will join his new club team as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Al-Feiha on August 19.
