  • Mo Salah’s agent has emphatically denied reports linking his client with a move to Saudi Arabia
  • Ramy Abbas Issa posted on Twitter that Salah will honour the contract he signed with Liverpool
  • Rumours surfaced that Al-Ittihad was planning to sign Salah in another blockbuster deal

Mo Salah won’t be moving to Saudi Arabia anytime soon.

The Liverpool winger has been heavily linked with a blockbuster move to the Gulf state. Al-Ittihad are reportedly interested in lodging a €60 million bid and offering a contract worth €180 million over two years.

The Egyptian star’s agent quashed those rumours, posting a 20-word statement on social media that will undoubtedly delight Reds fans.

Ramy Abbas Issa insisted that his client Salah is staying in Merseyside, writing on Twitter:

“If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”

Salah signed a new deal with Liverpool in June 2022, committing his future at Anfield until 2025.

That contract made the 31-year-old Liverpool’s record earner, with his wages placed at £350,000 a week.

Al-Ittihad interested in signing Salah

Rumours of Salah moving to Saudi Arabia refused to die down, though, as teams from the Middle East country secured several high-profile signings of stars playing in Europe this year.

Al-Ittihad has been aggressive with this transfer strategy, signing N’Golo Kante from Chelsea and Karim Benzema from Real Madrid earlier this summer, per Yahoo Sports.

Reports of Salah joining Al-Ittihad went into overdrive when his Liverpool teammate Fabinho was sold to the Saudi Arabian club last week for £40 million.

Liverpool has become a target for Saudi Arabian teams, with Jordan Henderson leaving the club to join Al-Ettifaq.

Reds fans can rest easy now and look forward to the upcoming Premier League season with their star player reaffirming his commitment to the club.

Salah has been a vital cog in the Reds’ recent success, scoring at least 30 goals in all competitions in each of Liverpool’s past three seasons.

He has scored 137 goals in 218 appearances for Liverpool dating back to 2017 when he moved there from AS Roma.

Gunners win Community Shield

Sports Brief recently reported on Arsenal beating Manchester City to win the Community Shield.

Leandro Trossard scored a late equaliser to force a penalty shootout.

The Gunners went on to win 4-1 on penalties.
