Barcelona have rejected the opportunity to take back Neymar on loan, seven years after the Brazilian superstar left the club in a world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 31-year-old forward has faced constant criticism in France and is looking for a way out of PSG this summer, with Barcelona being a possible rumoured destination.
According to Goal, PSG had offered Neymar to Barcelona on loan to sweeten the deal for France winger, Ousmane Dembele, who is set to dump the Catalan giants for Paris.
That offer, however, has been turned down as Barcelona have no desire to re-sign Neymar since the Brazilian’s pay would bring them further troubles in an already tough financial era.
Neymar spent four years at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017, scoring 105 goals and claiming a number of major honours, including the UEFA Champions League in 2015 under Luis Enrique.
Neymar scores on PSG return
Meanwhile, Neymar returned to club action for Thursday’s friendly against Jeonbuk in South Korea and quickly registered his name on the scoresheet, AS Soccer reports.
After 40 minutes, the Brazilian scored with an incredible effort, overcoming several players to create an angle for himself to give the reigning Ligue 1 champions the lead.
Neymar scored his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute, while substitute and former Real Madrid striker, Marco Asensio added a third in the 88th minute with a superb effort from the edge of the box.
