  • Sports Brief looks at the top 10 free agents in the market so far

We have seen some top deals go down in the summer transfer window already. Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, and Andre Onana have moved for big money this summer.

Some big names in football are still without a club after their contract ended on July 1 or their deals were mutually terminated by the club. The likes of Sergio Ramos, Eden Hazard, and Adama Traore are some of the names available on the market.

Some of these players are in the prime of their careers. The Saudi Pro League has snapped up some players who are past their prime, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and N'Golo Kante; therefore, some of the available players could move to Saudi Arabia.

Here are the top free agents left in the market, according to Transfermarkt.

Top 10 free agents

10. Sergio Ramos

The 37-year-old had an injury free 2022/23 season with Paris Saint-Germain. He is past his prime, and teams are scared off by his injury record, which is not great. He made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, meaning he can still contribute to a top team.

9. Eden Hazard

Hazard and Real Madrid reached an agreement to rescind his contract a year early, making him a free agent. The Belgian's story is a sad one. He left Chelsea hoping to become one of the best footballers in the world, but he encountered setback after setback. Every time he caught a break from injury, it struck again, robbing him of a chance to be consistent. Multiple reports have indicated he could retire at 32, but offers may arrive.

8. Alfredo Morelos

The ex-Rangers striker has been linked with a move to the Championship and Saudi Arabia. Some think that a reunion with Steven Gerrard in the Saudi Pro League may be on the cards, but that window seems to have closed after Al-Ettifaq signed Moussa Dembele.

7. Ross Barkley

Barkley was tipped to be one of England's best footballers, but the 29-year-old has not lived up to that hype. He made only nine starts for Nice in Ligue 1 last season. He has been linked with a move to Middlesbrough.

6. Lucas Moura

The former PSG and Tottenham Hotspur man has been linked with a move to Liga MX club CF Monterrey. The 30-year-old left Spurs when his contract expired on July 1. He had his moments in a Spurs shirt, but his performances regressed in the last few seasons.

5. Jesse Lingard

Lingard is still searching for a new club after his one-year deal with Nottingham Forest ended. He made just 17 Premier League appearances last season and has been linked with a move to the MLS.

4. Adama Traore

Traore's career never took off. He had a brief spell with Barcelona in early 2022 but never really made a mark. He made 34 appearances in the Premier League last season and had only two goals and two assists. He has been linked with Aston Villa.

3. Yerry Mina

Mina played only eight times for Everton last season but made a major contribution to the Toffees' survival. Injuries have hampered his career so far, but he's only 28. Italian side Cagliari have made an offer for the Colombian center back.

2. David De Gea

De Gea left Manchester United after 12 successful years and has been linked with several clubs, including Bayern Munich, PSG, and clubs in Saudi Arabia. The Spaniard won the Premier League clean sheet award last season, and he can still contribute in a top team. Therefore, it won't be hard for him to find a new team.

1. Daichi Kamada

Kamada is the most valuable free agent in the market right now. He is only 26 and has an almost flawless injury record. The Japanese scored 15 goals in 47 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt. It is only a matter of time before a big club signs him.

Hazard rejects Inter Miami's offer

Sports Brief earlier reported on Hazard reportedly rejecting an offer to join Lionel Messi in the MLS with Inter Miami.

Hazard was linked with a move to the MLS, with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami speculated as the preferred destination.

Hazard has also been linked with Spanish side Celta Vigo, but a deal is yet to materialize.
