  • Barcelona are looking to part ways with right-back, Sergino Dest if an offer does not arrive
  • Dest had a dismal 2022/23 season with AC Milan and has failed to impress Barca coach, Xavi
  • The club needs to sell so they can bring in a new right-back

Sergino Dest's days with Barcelona are numbered following a frustrating performance against Real Madrid in the pre-season friendly in the USA, in which they beat their arch-rivals 3-0.

The La Liga champions are reportedly looking to terminate the defender's contract if no offer to buy him arrives.

Dest was brought on in the 76th minute, but many Barca fans were not happy with his performance. Some even called for the American international to be shipped out after he was destroyed by Madrid winger Vinicius Jr.

According to Javi Miguel via Football Espana, the club are now considering a mutual contract termination as interest dries up. The 22-year-old arrived in 2020 under Ronald Koeman and has struggled to nail down a starting spot in the team.

Dest's poor 2022/23 season

He spent last season on loan at AC Milan, but it appears he did not develop. He made only 14 appearances last season for Milan, starting just two Serie A games, per Transfermarkt. He arrived from Ajax for €21 million and signed a five-year deal.

The Blaugrana are reportedly looking to sign a new right back, but the lack of interest for Dest is complicating matters. Captain Sergi Roberto is the only other player that used to play as a right-back. The club's financial woes have made it difficult for them in the transfer market.

So far, the club has signed Oriol Romeu (3.4 million), Ilkay Gundogan (free), and Inigo Martinez (free). They won La Liga last season but were dreadful in the Champions League. Therefore, they need to improve their squad.

PSG eyeing Barcelona's Dembele

Sports Brief earlier reported on French giants Paris Saint-Germain eying winger Ousmane Dembele, perhaps as Kylian Mbappe's replacement if the French captain leaves.

He has reportedly agreed to a verbal contract with French champions, but Xavi's side are keen on keeping Dembele and want to convince the forward to renew his deal.

The French winger reportedly has a €50 million release clause in his current contract – a figure which could rise to over €100 million come 1st August.
