It was not a complete surprise then to see DJ Khaled’s son get emotional as he stood in front of the Argentine star before Inter Miami’s match against Atlanta United.

The football icon melted hearts as he made sure the young child was just fine, checking on him before the Leagues Cup encounter.

Video of the heartwarming scene showed Messi consoling the music mogul's kid, with DJ Khaled also reassuring his child on the sidelines.

Messi is fresh off a spectacular debut for his new MLS team, leading Inter Miami to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul, per ESPN.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner showed his flair for the dramatic, scoring an incredible free kick deep into second-half stoppage time after he was fouled just outside the box.

He sent fans into a frenzy with that goal, including fellow sports stars Serena Williams and LeBron James, who watched his first game for Inter Miami live.

Messi scores again

Messi continued his scoring ways in the game against Atlanta United, netting a first-half double.

He opened the scoring in the eighth minute before doubling his tally 14 minutes later.

Robert Taylor made it 3-0 for Inter Miami when he fired home in the 44th minute.

Messi turned provider in the second half, delivering an assist to Taylor in the 53rd minute to make it 4-0 for Inter Miami.

Celebrities watch Messi's first start

Sports Brief also reported on the celebrities who watched Messi's first start for Inter Miami against Atlanta United.

Among the stars in attendance were American music artists Diddy, DJ Khaled and Camila Cabello.

The former Barcelona star didn't disappoint them, with Messi scoring a brace in the game's opening 22 minutes.
