Lionel Messi got some American celebrities on lock for his Inter Miami debut and he proved his greatness with a defining moment.

Messi's long-awaited debut in the United States arrived and the man himself stole the show, announcing himself to the American audience in grand style.

He started off the bench before coming on in the second half and when the game appeared to be settling for a draw, he stepped up and performed magic with a last-minute winner from a trademark freekick.

He sent the crowd at the sold-out DRV PNK Stadium into a rapturous atmosphere and from that moment on, it has been non-stop excitement for fans worldwide and those in attendance.

LeBron James acknowledges Messi

NBA legend LeBron James was in attendance for the game and gave Messi a hug as he walked out to take his seat on the bench. He was later pictured recording a video as the new soccer superstar was prepared to make his debut.

He loved what he saw and took to his social media pages to share different reactions on Twitter and Instagram.

"Welcome brother!!! Always good to see and be in the presence of GREATNESS!!!" he wrote on Instagram.

While on Twitter, he quoted a video of the freekick goal and wrote - INCREDIBLE, with a goat emoji.

Muller congratulates Messi

Sports Brief reported that Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller congratulated Messi after his debut in the Leagues Cup which he capped off with a match-winning freekick.

The two share great history and rivalry with the German having a hand in many occasions that denied Messi of silverware especially the 2014 FIFA World Cup final.

Beckham emotional after Messi's debut

Sports Brief also reported that Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham was in tears after Messi's magical moment helped the team to their first win in over two months.

Beckham earlier admitted that seeing the Argentine play for his club is a dream come true after working on a deal to bring him to Miami for four years.
