However, he also safeguarded himself from backlash with a stylish reply.
Messi made his debut for Inter Miami in MLS on July 21 and scored a match-winning last-minute free kick, and has been dominating the headlines since.
The Argentine also had an offer from the Middle East to rekindle the rivalry with Ronaldo that they enjoyed for nine years in La Liga, but turned it down for an offer from the US team.
