According to Sky Sports, the Premier League runners-up from last season forked out an eyewatering £65 million to land Havertz, who had spent three years at Stamford Bridge.

The move saw the 24-year-old become Arsenal's first signing of the summer as Mikel Arteta embarked on an ambitious recruitment to strengthen his squad.

Havertz scores first Arsenal goal

The former Bayer Leverkusen star gave his new club a glimpse of what they should expect after he opened his goal account with them on Thursday morning, July 20.

Havertz was part of the Arsenal squad that played an MLS All-Stars team coached by Wayne Rooney.

Arteta's charges needed just a minute into the kick-off to open the scoring, with Gabriel Jesus at the centre of things with a curling volley.

The Premier League giants doubled their advantage through Leandro Trossard before Jorginho made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the second half.

A video shared by ESPN showed Havertz joining the goal-fest moments before stoppage time, finding the back of the net with a stunning finish to make it 4-0.

Havertz trolled after skills challenge

The goal came a day after Havertz was trolled by fans online for becoming the first player to score zero in the MLS skills challenge, as Sports Brief reported.

Havertz was in the news for the wrong reasons recently after his dull performance in the skill test during Arsenal's pre-season tour of the United States.

He made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Nurnberg in the Gunners' first pre-season game and his poor performance on the field was noticed.
