  • Chelsea have officially released their home kit for the 2023/23 season
  • The kit was unveiled despite it not having a front sponsor as the search continues
  • It was received with mixed reactions from fans, who had different concerns

As in the past, Chelsea fans have had mixed reactions to the club unveiling their home kit for the 2023/24 season, which does not have a front sponsor.

The Todd Boehly-led ownership is in its second year but has done a lot to offend and appease the fans simultaneously, and the recent kit release is doing both at the same time.

According to the club's official statement, the kit released this morning pays homage to the 90s as it was teased on their social media in the past days, and featured 97/98 season Cup Winners' Cup member, Denis Wise and Champions League-winning manager, Roberto Di Matteo in the unveiling.

However, one of the concerns is the lack of of sponsor. This come despite the club having a year to look for one. Former sponsor Three UK suspended their association with the club after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as reported by Guardian.

Fans' reaction to sponsorless kit

The kit's design had circulated on social media for days, with fans applauding it as beautiful, especially with the gold strike on the necks and sleeves.

@NanaKwame_off wrote:

''This shirt is the best Chelsea Jersey I've ever seen.''

@PaulRCove tweeted:

''This is genuinely one of the best kits we’ve had in the last 15 years.''

talkSPORT reported that the club has considered two main sponsors. Paramount was rejected by the Premier League due to a clash of interest with their broadcasters, while fans kicked against Stake because it is a betting company.

Pochettino leaves fans on edge

Sports Brief reported that Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea fans on edge with his public declaration of support for Dele Alli and plans to help the player rediscover his career.

Alli played under Pochettino for five years at Tottenham Hotspur, but his career has taken a downward spiral. The manager's comments sounded to fans like he wanted to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
