  • Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about his drowning former player Dele Alli
  • Pochettino coached Alli to prominence but the midfielder soon declined massively
  • His comments about the player have left Chelsea fans worried he could be planning on bringing him to Stamford Bridge

Mauricio Pochettino will have to be careful with his adventures after his recent comments on his former Tottenham player left his new club's fans on edge.

Pochettino resumed officially as Chelsea boss on Monday, and his first steps and words have won the fans to his side, at least for now, after initially coming across as a divisive figure among the fans.

His first interview and press conference got many to his side as he hopes to restore the winning culture to Chelsea after the rubbles of the last season, in which the team finished in 12th outside of European places.

He has the Blues faithful's attention, but he must be careful not to lose it with his decisions on the rest of the window and must understand that winning at least a trophy next season will keep the trust going.

Pochettino's comments on Dele Alli

Dele Alli blossomed under Poch at Tottenham and was a two-time PFA Young Player of the Year, but his decline began before the Argentine left North London in 2019.

All left Spurs for Everton but never cut it and was sent on a disastrous loan at Besiktas. He is back at Finch Farm, with Sean Dyche ready to trust him and give him another chance to rediscover his form, but his former manager is also interested in helping him.

“I hope to have some time to call and see because he is a great guy, and I want to talk a bit with him. I want to help him and see what is going on,” the former PSG boss said via Sun Sport.
“He’s still young. For sure, he has the mentality,” he added.

This does not mean that the manager wants him at Chelsea, just a concern about his former player, even though the club had unsuccessfully tried to sign him in the past, but the comments leave fans worried.

Iwobi's thoughts on Alli

Sports Brief reported that Everton teammate Alex Iwobi blamed Alli's woes on the midfielder's attitude and work ethic, making it difficult for managers to assess him properly.

Iwobi claimed the 26-year-old is lazy in training. This comes weeks after he was pictured in bed with four women despite having just undergone hip muscle surgery.
