Argentina’s international friendly game against Australia experienced an unusual twist after an overly excited fan jumped unto the pitch to hug Lionel Messi.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner was the biggest star on showcase as the reigning World Cup champions took a tour of China for their international friendlies.

According to Marca, The Chaoyang District Public Security Bureau has identified the fan as Di and has placed him in administrative detention according to the law in China.

As part of his punishment for invading the pitch, the 18-year-old Chinese national will also not be allowed to enter a stadium for the next 12 months.

Di has since apologised to the Chinese government for his actions which he claims he did to highlight the lack of security at the stadium.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi says he cannot wait to take up a new challenge in the MLS and is eager to play for David Beckham’s Inter Miami, Goal reports.
