Ghanaian forward Kojo Joel has completed his nationality switch to represent Kyrgyzstan at international level.

The 24-year-old forward was granted permission to play for the Asian country after FIFA cleared him following the assessment of his documents.

Joel will make his debut for Kyrgyzstan in their game against Iran on Friday night.

"The KFU worked to obtain permission from the International Football Federation (FIFA) for the possibility of football player Kozho Joel playing in the main football team of the Kyrgyz Republic.
FIFA, having studied the player's documents sent to the FSC, and based on the provisions of the FIFA Charter, gave an official written confirmation that Kojo Joel has the right to play for the National Team of the Kyrgyz Republic," the KFU confirmed on their official website.

He becomes the fifth player of African origin to play for the country and the fourth Ghanaian to represent Kyrgyzstan.

Cameroonian Claude Maka Kum, Daniel Tagoe, Elijah Ari and David Tetteh - all from Ghana - are the other African players who played for the Asian nation in the past.

The talented forward has been playing in the Kyrgyzstan since 2017, where he featured for FK Dordoi Bishkek and FK Alay Osh.

He won the Kyrgyz Republic championship in 2021 as well as the Country Cup in 2020.

Joel currently plies his trade at Dinamo Samarqand in the Uzbekistan Pro Liga, where he has scored 8 goals and provided one assist in 9 appearances in the 2023 campaign.

Laryea meets Ayew brothers

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Former Ghana winger, Laryea Kingston met with the Ayew brothers ahead of the Black Stars' trip to Madagascar on Friday, for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The four-time African champions travel to Antananarivo with the objective of sealing qualification to the tournament in Ivory Coast next year.

Kingston, who starred for the Black Stars at the 2008 edition in Ghana, charged Andre and Jordan Ayew to make sure the job is well-executed on Sunday.
