  • Manchester United have ended their pursuit of England striker Harry Kane
  • United believe Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to sell him hence the delay
  • Attention has turned to other options including Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund

According to multiple reports in the English media, Manchester United will not be moving forward with their pursuit of English striker, Harry Kane.

The Red Devils hierarchy believes Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to sell hence the delay, coupled with an 'unrealistic fee hike' for a player who is almost 30 and has a year left on his contract.

Sports Brief looks at five strike options Erik ten Hag can consider as he hopes to fill the void that will the left by the departures of Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst.

1. Rasmus Hojlund

The Danish striker is now United’s priority after ending interest in Kane. According to The Athletic, he is expected to cost between £40-60 million. The 20-year-old, who scored 16 goals for Atalanta last season, has lauded the Manchester outfit as a massive club amid interest.

2. Randal Kolo Muani

The French international remains a possibility for United. Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding €100mil, which could be a stumbling block to the deal, as well as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Kolo Muani.

3. Goncalo Ramos

United considered the Portuguese forward in January after he scored a hat-trick against Switzerland at the World Cup - Benfica’s asking price of €120mil put off any potential deal. According to Sportskeeda, PSG are ready to pay €100mil for the 21-year-old.

4. Victor Osimhen

The Nigerian striker’s future is still up in the air. Napoli are determined to keep him but could be tempted to sell if an offer above €100mil arrives for the Scudetto winner. Bayern Munich are also interested.

5. Kylian Mbappe

A crazy one, but it is not unlikely. Mirror UK reports that PSG are ready to cash in on him if he does not extend his contract. If Sheikh Jassim succeeds in buying the club, it is undoubtedly one to watch out for.

Man Utd’s 9 likeliest signings

Sports Brief reported on the nine likeliest signings for Man United as analysed by artificial intelligence, with Kane - whose transfer has now been ruled out - top of the list.

Another player on the list whose transfer looks complicated now is Chelsea star, Mason Mount after the Blues rejected a first bid of £40mil for the academy graduate.
