Neymar’s purported move to Manchester United this summer might not be as lucrative for the Brazilian forward as many would expect, due to a strange rule at the English club.
Paris Saint-Germain are keen to offload Neymar at the end of the season, as the French club aims to get rid of his huge salary on their wage bill. The Red Devils are said to be interested in signing him.
According to Sportskeeda, Neymar’s weekly wages are expected to dip from the £520,000 he currently earns at PSG to around £200,000 per week, due to the 'Ronaldo rule'.
Al-Hilal increase offer for PSG star Lionel Messi to €500m
FootballManchester United do not intend to pay over £200,000 per week to any player after their experience with former player, Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Portuguese star left to join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo, Man United’s highest earner, terminated his contract with the Red Devils in December 2022 after falling out with Erik ten Hag, before sealing a move to Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Neymar would love to join Manchester United this summer from Paris Saint-Germain, as the Brazilian forward prefers the Old Trafford club, The Hard Tackle reports.
The Red Devils are in a tight race with fellow Premier League club Chelsea for the 31-year-old forward, who is open to leaving PSG at the end of the season.
Neymar scored 18 goals and created 17 assists across all competitions this season for PSG, but the Brazilian feels it is time to look for a new adventure outside of France.

The Brazilian instead attended the showcase Formula 1 event in Monaco, and was pictured alongside Hollywood superstars Tom Holland, Orlando Bloom, and Michael Douglas.
Neymar's absence from their title celebrations has reportedly been seen as an 'act of provocation' by the PSG hierarchy, as his exit this summer appears increasingly likely.
