Jose Peseiro Makes Big Revelation After Nigeria’s Ouster at 2023 FIFA Under 20 World Cup

Jose Peseiro who is the coach of the Super Eagles has offered some words of comfort to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria after crashing out of the 2023 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Argentina.

After beating the host nation in the round of 16, the Flying Eagles were tipped to go far in the competition, but their journey was ended by South Korea who recorded a 1-0 win on June 4.

The defeat came as a disappointing one for many Nigerian football fans who were expecting to see the Flying Eagles in the final.

According to the report on Punch, Peseiro explained that the Flying Eagles tried their best stressing that they were not embarrassed out of the competition.

“Heads up, Flying Eagles.
“What you have shown in this World Cup makes Nigerian people proud. They fought and honoured to the end and earned a place among the top 8 teams in the World.”

As things stand, the Flying Eagles will have to wait for another two years for them to have the chance to compete again at the Under 20 World Cup.

Nigeria crash out at World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how the Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday night, June 4, suffered an unexpected 1-0 defeat against South Korea in their quarter-final clash at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Under 20 World Cup.

Going into this encounter, coach Ladan Bosso and his wards were the favorites to progress to the semi-final having defeated the host nation Argentina 2-0 in the round of 16.

Ladan Bosso also assured all Nigerian fans that his players would do well against South Korea, but they were unable to soar this time around as their opponents were more determined to win.

The Flying Eagles started the match impressively looking for an early goal with Muhammad having the chance to open the scoring, but his shot was blocked in the 2nd minute.
