Daniel Bameyi who is the captain of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria has stated emphatically that he and his teammates are not scared of Italy ahead of their battle at the ongoing 2023 Under-20 FIFA World Cup.

Coach Ladan Bosso and his wards started their campaign at the World Cup on an impressive note beating the Dominican Republic 2-1 in what was a challenging battle.

Going into this game, the Flying Eagles were urged by the Nigerian Football Federation chiefs to make Nigerians proud by going far in this year's competition.

The Italian Under 20 team are the favorites for this year's World Cup following their 3-2 win over Brazil in their opening game on Sunday, 21 May.

According to reports on Complete Sports and Brila, Daniel Bameyi made it clear that the target of the Flying Eagles is not afraid of any opponents

Bameyi is not scared of Italy

“The next opponent beat Brazil and we watched the first half. Any team that can beat Brazil will not be an easy team but we are Nigerians and not scared of anybody.
“We know every team is beatable no matter how you play.”

Nigeria defeat Dominican Republic

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how the Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 in the FIFA U-20 World Cup opener.

It was Group D’s opening fixture as the African side claimed the precious win at the Estadio Malvinas Argentina in Mendoza, Argentina.

The Dominicans opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute following a dangerous tackle by Benjamin Frederick inside the box.

The Flying Eagles equalized after Guillermo De Pena headed a long throw-in into his own net.

The vital winner came barely 20 minutes to the end when impressive Nigerian midfielder Samson Lawal found the back of the net in a spectacular fashion.
