Real Madrid have terminated Eden Hazard’s contract following a nightmare spell at the club.
Hazard was rated as one of the best wingers in the world at some point and was snapped up by Real Madrid in 2019 for a then British transfer record of £142m from Chelsea.
Despite having a five-year initial contract with Los Blancos that runs through 2024, the former Chelsea playmaker has struggled with injuries and poor form.
And now Real Madrid have come to an agreement with Hazard, who will be released on June 30, as cited by Sports Bible.
In a statement posted on the club's website read:
“Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be released from the club as of June 30, 2023.
“Real Madrid wants to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wishes him and his entire family the best of luck in this new stage.”
How Hazard fared at Madrid
During his time at Real Madrid, he scored seven goals in 76 appearances, 10 of which came in all competitions in the 2022/23 season, Sky Sports reported.
Among the trophies won at the club are two La Liga titles, one Champions League, one Copa Del Rey, Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, and two Spanish Super Cups.
Indeed, Hazard featured only six times in the league this term.
