Eden Hazard’s time of warming the bench at Real Madrid finally ended this weekend, and he couldn’t have been more surprised by it.

Hazard has not featured much for Los Blancos this season but did come on as a substitute against Real Valladolid.

Hazard came on for Benzema in the 65th minute of the game that Madrid went on to win 6-0, BBC reported. Hazard even registered an assist in the victory.

As noted by Transfermarkt, Hazard’s last appearance in the league for Madrid came on September 11, 2022, in a game against Real Mallorca.

Thankfully for the Belgian superstar, that long wait for a game ended as he was introduced against Valladolid, and he was surprised at being given a chance.

Footage emerged of the moment that the attacker was told he would be coming on, and it was evident to see that he was quite thrilled by the idea.

Luka Modric also seemed to be happy for Hazard and helped him get out of his tracksuit.

Hazard will be hoping to get more game time going forward, as his contract with the club only expires next season.

Madrid will be looking to sell the attacker during the upcoming transfer window, but Hazard is hoping to stay at the club until his contract expires.

Hazard retires from international football

Eden Hazard is calling it quits on his international footballing career.

The Belgian attacker has been part of the national team setup for 15 years, Sports Brief reported.

Hazard made his debut when he was just 17 years old, in a friendly against Luxembourg.
