  • Reports claim he has an agreement with Manchester United already

Thiago Silva could not hide his emotions after reports emerged that Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount is close to leaving Stamford Bridge for Manchester United.

Mount came through the club’s famous academy at Cobham and made his first-team debut under Frank Lampard in 2019, forming a significant part of the club’s success since then.

His current contract runs out in the summer of 2024, and an agreement has yet to be reached for a new deal, with reports suggesting no talks have taken place in months.

The club is reportedly unwilling to gamble, allowing him instead to run down his contract and leave the club.

The Telegraph broke the news that Mount has agreed on personal terms with Manchester United, following a formal agreement between the two clubs.

Silva emotional over Mount’s departure

The Blues faithful received the news of his personal agreement with a rival with mixed feelings including a sense of betrayal, owing to his possible next destination.

The fans love Mount as he is a successful product of their academy, but Thiago Silva’s reaction when the news broke yesterday shows he is loved by his teammates too.

The Brazilian veteran reacted by dropping two tear emojis on a page reporting the news, confirming the mood of the Chelsea dressing room towards the star's departure.

The former Paris Saint-Germain man was voted the fan's and players' player of the year, succeeding Mount, who won the award in the past two seasons.

Silva also has a contract until 2024, but some reports link him to a sensational move to his former club, Fluminese, but he has denied the claims, per 90min.

Mount waves goodbye to fans

Sports Brief also reported that Mount waved goodbye to Chelsea fans after their season's final game against Newcastle United, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

During the routine lap of honour at the end of the season, the academy star looked emotional as he applauded the fans in what was an emotional moment for him.
