Thibaut Courtois' recent Champions League final prediction was very subtle at face value. The Real Madrid goalkeeper admitted that he would like to see Romelu Lukaku beat Kevin De Bruyne in the Istanbul final on June 10.

De Bruyne starred in Manchester City's demolition of Courtois' Real Madrid in the semifinal, while Inter Milan saw off cross-town rivals AC Milan to qualify for their first final since 2010.

However, fans read the goalkeeper's wishes differently. Courtois and De Bruyne are always believed not to see eye to eye due to an incident that happened in 2012/2013.

Caroline Lijnen was De Bruyne's girlfriend when she had an affair with Courtois. As Daily Mail reported at that time, Lijnen admitted as much but blamed De Bruyne, who was at Wolfsburg at that time, for straying out of their relationship first.

Lijnen said she met Courtois in Madrid, who was at that time plying his trade for Atletico Madrid on loan from Chelsea.

"'Kevin cheated on me. I did not say anything for months because I couldn't say anything, as Kevin's parents said they would take legal action if I gave my story. I was under pressure and I could not have contact with Kevin.

Courtois siding with Lukaku has now gotten fans thinking that there is still animosity between the two players who have headlined Belgium's golden generation.
