FootballErik ten Hag Sparks Hakim Ziyech to Man United Transfer Rumours With Bold Statement
- Erik ten Hag has bemoaned Hakim Ziyech's lack of playing time at Chelsea
- The two were spotted enjoying a beautiful moment together at Old Trafford on May 25
- Ziyech played under ten Hag at Ajax before joining Chelsea, where he has since fallen down the pecking order
Erik ten Hag shared a lovely moment with Hakim Ziyech before and after Manchester United played Chelsea at Old Trafford on May 25.
Ziyech was part of ten Hag's Ajax team that enjoyed much success in the Eredivisie and the Champions League before he moved to Chelsea in 2020.
He was on the losing side on Thursday night as his former manager masterminded a 4-1 win to secure Champions League football for the Red Devils next season.
Ten Hag walked to Chelsea's technical area before the match and gave the Moroccan a warm embrace. They were then spotted have a conversation after the game.
The 30-year-old has grown frustrated at Chelsea in recent times due to a lack of regular playing time. He came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain in January, but the Blues backed out of the deal at the last minute.
Speaking after the game, ten Hag declined to reveal what he said to Ziyech but admitted he still held him in high regard.
"That is between Hakim and me. We have experienced a lot together, beautiful things. There is a bond for life. ‘He has to play every week. A footballer like that, in the prime of his life, must be on the pitch," as quoted by Metro Sports.
Ziyech to Manchester United?
Ten Hag has shown in his short stint at Manchester United that he likes to work with players he has worked with before. He signed Lisandro Martinez and Antony from Ajax and was seriously interested in Frenkie De Jong.

FootballZiyech is believed to be among the players who will pave the way for a rebuild when the next coach comes in. A possible move to Old Trafford might as well materialise.
Mason Mount favours move to Manchester United
This reaction comes at a time when Mason Mount is reportedly favouring a move to Manchester United if he were to leave Chelsea this summer.
Sports Brief reported that the Chelsea attacking midfielder has become the subject of transfer speculation, with reports claiming he could depart the club this summer.
It looks increasingly likely that Mount will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after failing to agree a new deal with the Blues.
