Harambee Stars, 23 other teams to jostle for KSh 1.4 billion Afcon prize money
- AFCON 2019 will see competing teams jostle for a total prize money of KSh 1.4 billion
- Semi-finalists who square up in the third-place play-off will equally share KSh 400 million
- The winners in the final will pockets KSh 450 million, with the runners-up getting KSh 250 million
Kenya's Harambee Stars will smile to the bank with KSh 450 million prize money if the Sebastien Migne-tutored side emerges victorious at the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
According to Goal report, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed in April 2019 that prize money totaling KSh 1.4 billion would be shared between the best eight teams at AFCON 2019 as prize money.

Interestingly, the continent’s football showpiece will feature 24 teams for the first time, with the final slated for Friday, July 19 at the Cairo International Stadium.
A further breakdown of the prize money disclosed that any country that reaches the quarterfinal rounds will pocket KSh 80 million.
Going forward, beaten semi-finalists, who will have the privilege of playing in the loser’s final, otherwise known the third-place match will see each team pocket KSh 200 million.

And in the final game, the winners will pockets KSh 450 million, with the runners-up getting KSh 250 million.
The competition will run from June 21 to July 19 in Egypt.
