FootballBarcelona Winger’s Summer Stay Dependent on Brazilian Prodigy’s Arrival
- Barcelona hope to complete the signing of Vitor Roque in the summer
- Reports suggest Barca will offload Ferran Torres to make space for him
- Barcelona hope to generate fresh revenue from the sale of the Spaniard
There has been a lot of speculation and talks about the future of Spain and FC Barcelona forward, Ferran Torres, heading into this summer's transfer window.
Multiple reports have suggested that the Spanish international will be offloaded in the summer, as Barcelona need to generate fresh revenue and reduce their salary structure in order to meet Financial Fair Play requirements.
However, according to a fresh update from Gerard Romero’s Jijantes, Torres’ future might very well be tied with that of Barcelona target, Vitor Roque.
Indeed, the report claims the Spanish ace will end up staying at the club unless they sign the Athletico Paranaense star in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona are in the market for reinforcements in attack, and the 18-year-old Roque has been identified as a top target.
According to reports by Sport, incoming sporting director and former Barcelona player, Deco has made it his top objective to sign the Brazilian star and is confident about closing the deal.
However, other factors, such as the Financial Fair Play margin and the interest from clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG could still play spoilsport in La Blaugrana’s pursuit of Roque.
As such, if he does not arrive in the summer, the newly-crowned La Liga champions will likely end up keeping Torres in their ranks.
Ferran Torres' stint at Barcelona
Signed from Manchester City in January of 2022, the 23-year-old forward has had a disappointing first full season at the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium. However, with Ansu Fati likely to be sold, Barcelona could become short on attacking options if they do not sign Roque as well.

FootballGiven Torres’ ability to play across the frontline, he could thus be an option to provide depth, and the Catalans will consider keeping hold of him in case they fail to bring in Roque.
But if the Brazilian does arrive, it will open the door for the former Manchester City and Valencia ace to leave the club.
Barcelona to extend Dembele's contract
Barcelona want to keep Ousmane Dembele at the Spanish club for a few more seasons, Sports Brief has also reported.
The French attacker’s contract expires at the end of the 2024 season, and he has a €50 million release clause in his current deal.
With that relatively low clause, Dembele has become a target for other European clubs, prompting Barca to consult his agent.
