On Wednesday, May 10, the 34-year-old made the announcement that he will be bidding farewell to Barcelona at the conclusion of the season, marking the end of an extraordinary 18-year journey with the club as his current contract reaches its expiration, per Sky Sports.

Following his announcement, Luka Modric, who plays for Busquet's rival club, Real Madrid, took to social media to pay a glowing tribute to the midfielder, who called time on his international career shortly after the 2022 World Cup.

While he made clear his intentions of not extending his nearly two-decade stay at the Camp Nou, Busquets' next destination is uncertain amid reports linking him to a move to Saudi Arabia, according to Forbes.
