Puleng Marema who is the captain of the South African club Polokwane City has paid touching tribute to his later father and uncle after helping his side secure promotion to the DStv Premiership.

It was last Sunday, 14 May, that Pulenga Marema and his teammates made names for themselves after thrashing visiting Pretoria Callies 4-0 in their last game of the season.

Puleng Marema scored the second goal in the encounter as his club finished first on the Championship table with 57 points.

Last three seasons, Polokwane City got relegated from the First Division, and they have been struggling since to return to the South African top flight.

According to the reports on Disk and Soweta, Puleng Marema explained that he was insulted and told to leave the club, but he was determined to promote his side.

Puleng Marema expresses happiness

“I’m too emotional, I don’t know what to say. I tried two times, but we failed. This season, I said you know what ‘I’m going to try again.
“It was difficult last season. I lost my father this year, I lost my uncle a few days ago. So this is for them.
“I wanted to promote this team. Everyone wrote me off, saying why am I still here, I don’t deserve to be here. So here I am today, I am a champion and I’m a winner.''
