As noted by Far Post, Hlongwane scored the only goal of the game as Minnesota beat Houston Dynamos on Thursday, May 18.

The former Maritzburg United attacker is proving to be one of the American side’s best performers this season. He even picked up a Man of the Match award for his performance against the Texas side.

Hlongwane’s eye-catching MLS performances

Hlongwane has become a reliable source of goals for the Loons this season and recently came off the bench to score a brace for the side in the US Open Cup.

As noted by Transfermarkt, he has scored five goals in 13 games for the American side already and doesn’t look like he plans on stopping soon.

The South African is contracted to the club until December 2024, but Minnesota does have the option to extend his deal by another year.

Hlongwane is just one of the few South Africans plying their trade in America. He joined the MLS side from Maritzburg United and has seen his market value dramatically increase since moving to the United States.
