  • Napoli players have been urged by President Aurelio de Laurentiis for them to win the Serie A title again next season
  • This comes hours after they emerged champions for the ongoing season following their 1-1 draw at Udinese
  • Laurentiis also made it clear that he will not be selling Nigerian striker Osimhen for any amount in the summer

De Laurentiis who is the president of newly crowned Italian champions Napoli has urged Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and his teammates to make sure that their Serie A title win is repeated next season.

There has been massive jubilation in Naples since Thursday night following Napoli's 1-1 draw at Udinese which gave them the Serie A title thanks to Osimhen who scored their goal.

The draw ended Napoli's 33-year wait for them to lift the Scudetto even though they have five games more to play this season.

According to the report on Complete Sports, De Laurentiis explained that he is happy with the success recorded by his players as he urged them to continue making the club and fans proud.

Statement made by De Laurentiis

“You always told me, we want to win. And we won! We all won together. And on Sunday against Fiorentina, everyone is here for the big party. Thank you to everyone.
“Today is the crowning of an expectation that lasted 33 years. When I arrived, I said it will take 10 years to get into Europe – we maintained that early. I said another 10 years to win the Scudetto, and we did that again a couple of years in advance.''

Osimhen breaks Serie A record

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Victor Osimhen helped Napoli to become Serie A champions for the first time in 33 years, through his equalising goal against Udinese in the second half.

The Nigerian powered home a shot through the crowd after a scramble from a corner kick, to help Napoli hold on and seal the Italian league title away from home in Udine.

Neapolitans put everything in place for a party at home last Sunday against Salernitana, but the team fell short of victory despite Inter Milan beating Lazio 3-1.

Napoli are now 16 points clear of second-placed Lazio with a maximum of 15 points left to fight for, meaning they cannot be matched or overtaken mathematically.
