- The Saudi Pro League club are in a bidding war with Barcelona and Inter Milan for the Argentine
- Messi is set to exit Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his deal in France runs out
Lionel Messi will have to decide which is more important between money or staying in Europe after Saudi Pro League team, Al-Hilal raised their offer to sign the Argentina superstar.
The 35-year-old forward and Paris Saint-Germain are set to part ways at the end of the season after two mixed seasons with the Ligue 1 giants whom he joined in 2021.
According to Football Espana, Al-Hilal have increased their offer by an extra €100 mil after initially tabling a €400 mil two-year deal for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Messi is also thought to be considering a move back to Barcelona, but a serious financial crisis has hit the Catalans and they are only offering the Argentine around €14 mil per year.
If the veteran accepts the Al-Hilal deal, he will become the new highest-paid footballer on the planet, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently earns €200 mil per year.
Barcelona set Messi’s return date
Meanwhile, Messi's potential return to Barcelona already has a set date as the club pushes to re-sign the 35-year-old forward as a free agent this summer, Forbes reports.
With La Blaugrana's first La Liga title in four years secured, President Joan Laporta has indicated that re-signing their former superstar is now the club's top priority.
The signing of Messi is expected to accelerate a month from now, when there will be around a fortnight until he becomes a free agent, with anticipation already building.
