  • Barcelona are edging closer to bringing Lionel Messi back to Camp Nou this summer
  • Messi is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his current deal expires
  • Barcelona are among a few clubs including Inter Milan and Inter Miami seeking to sign Messi

Barcelona have intensified their push to re-sign Lionel Messi this summer as reports confirmed the Argentine could leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Messi enjoyed great success with the Catalan club between 2005 and 2021, winning four UEFA Champions League trophies before leaving heartbreakingly following Barca’s failure to renew his contract.

Barcelona has been heavily linked with a move for Messi, and club president Joan Laporta is now set to offer Messi a two-year deal when he eventually leaves PSG this summer.

The deal is said to be worth a whopping €50million for the two seasons, which is way less than what has been promised to the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner by top Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Laporta is desperate to sign Messi who still remains the club’s all-time goal scorer with 672 goals during his 17-year stay at the La Liga club.

Messi and PSG's loveless marriage is over

Meanwhile, any prospect of Lionel Messi extending his contract at the Parc des Princes is now over following the club’s decision to suspend the Argentine superstar for two weeks, Goal reports.

Messi was also fined his two weeks’ wages after PSG frowned at the decision taken by the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to take an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia on Monday.

PSG were set to offer Messi a new contract before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but both parties appear to have made a U-turn on that agreement as Messi now looks to be on his way out of the club.

Messi hold talks with MLS club

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Major League Soccer side, Inter Miami, might just hijack Lionel Messi’s impending move to Barcelona as the club is set to hold talks with the forward’s agent.

Barcelona have made it their mission to re-sign the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner this summer, with his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain set to expire at the end of the season.

Messi looks destined to leave PSG this summer following the Argentine superstar’s suspension after an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia, and Inter Miami wants to take advantage of the situation.
