  • Carlo Ancelotti chalked a new milestone during Real Madrid's semi-final reverse leg tie with Manchester City
  • He surpassed Sir Alex Ferguson as managing the most games in Champions League history, reaching 191 games
  • However, Ancelotti's landmark moment ended on a bitter note as his team struggled away at the Etihad Stadium

Carlo Ancelotti cut a worried figure as he watched his Real Madrid side helplessly go down two-nil at half-time, during their Champions League semi-final reverse tie against Manchester City.

Ancelotti's side came into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium with the tie finely poised at 1-1, with both teams eyeing a spot in the final against Inter Milan.

However, he watched his side slip and crumble in the wake of a rampant City side.

According to AS, the Italian manager, who reached a milestone in the match, first had a heartfelt conversation with Vinicius Junior after Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock by being put through on goal by Kevin De Bruyne.

The 63-year-old, usually a calm figure on the touchline, was visibly worried after Silva doubled the lead for City after the half-hour mark.

He worriedly munched on his gum with his trademark brow raised while wondering how his side had crumbled already before half-time.

Ancelotti's night of glory then turned into agony as an own-goal from Eder Militao and a strike from substitute, Julian Alvarez handed his charges a heavy defeat, per Eurosport.

Ancelotti's Madrid future in limbo?

Real Madrid manager, Ancelotti is optimistic about staying at the club beyond this season despite his side exiting the UCL with their tails in between their legs.

Pep Guardiola's Man City mauled Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium to book their place in the Champions League final on aggregate.

It was a night to forget for Ancelotti, who acknowledged that Man City were by and far the better team on the night, as previously reported by Sports Brief.

Supercomputer picks City over Madrid

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported that a supercomputer predicted City to win by a higher percentage ahead of their second-leg tie against Real Madrid.

The Citizens has taken an important step toward qualifying for the Champions League final with a draw last week at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
