Manchester City took an important step toward qualifying for the Champions League final by playing to an impressive draw at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on May 9.

It has been a case of so near, yet so far for Pep Guardiola in the Champions League, despite dominating domestic competitions in Germany and England.

A Kevin De Bruyne strike, which cancelled out Vinicius Junior's effort in the Spanish capital, has set up a balanced and juicy tie ahead of next week's showdown in Manchester.

Real Madrid's Champions League mettle

Guardiola will be wary of the record European champions, who often seem unfazed by playing away at English stadia or against English opposition.

The defending Premier League champions will be out to ensure that a repeat of last season's last-minute misfortunes do not repeat themselves.

The last time City lost a game was on February 5 against Tottenham Hotspur, with Guardiola's new hybrid 3-2-4-1 formation, designed to accommodate John Stones in the midfield, doing wonders.

This good run of form has now been boosted further after a supercomputer predicted that Man City will go all the way and win their maiden UCL title.

Who's advancing to UCL final?

Bettingexpert's supercomputer, BETSIE, ran some algorithms after the results of the first legs and calculated that Man City have a 69.8% of reaching the final. Once they reach Istanbul, they will have a 51.5% to win the entire competition.

Inter Milan are the likeliest opponents in the final after they beat their cross-city rivals, AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg. Simone Inzaghi's side now have a 93.56% chance of reaching the final.

The study by BETSIE involved 20,000 simulations of games in the remaining fixtures where the expected goals metric (shown as figure xG) was used.

Final EPL table prediction

At the same time, Sports Brief reported the same supercomputer has predicted how the final Premier League table could look at the end of the season.

There are only four match weeks left in the current campaign as all the 20 teams in the English top flight seek to finish the 2022/23 season on a high.

Manchester City and Arsenal are currently battling for the title, with the Gunners keen to secure the crown for the first time in almost two decades.
