  • Jose Mourinho's AS Roma were beaten 2-0 by Inter on Saturday, which dealt a blow to their top-four hopes
  • Sunday was a scheduled day off for the team despite the defeat to Nerrazzuri

Jose Mourinho showed a heartwarming gesture with the youth team of AS Roma by inspiring them to victory with a half-time talk on his day off.

Roma's top-four hopes suffered a massive blow after their 2-0 loss to Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, a game played with a depleted squad due to injuries.

The visibly tired squad were given Sunday off, but instead of resting, Mourinho spent his time with the youth team in their game against the Fiorentina youth team.

The team were 1-0 down at half-time. The Special One gave an inspiring team talk to the young players at half-time, which spurred them to victory, as reported by Corriere dello Sport.

“I’d like to see more intensity and rhythm, you must be more aggressive because Fiorentina’s defence is weaker, and you can beat them. I think the second half will be different, I believe in the victory,” he told the players.

Dimitrios Keramitsis was the player who slipped in the build-up to the team conceding in the first half. Jose told him to change his boot as he had chosen the wrong stud.

The team came back in the second half with two goals to secure a 2-1 victory. It was not the first time the Portuguese manager had attended the youth games at Stadio Tre Fontane.

Mourinho's hidden microphone genius

Sports Brief reported that Mourinho had a hidden microphone on him for the game against Monza to protect himself in his interactions with the referee.

He had been involved with referees occasionally since his return to Italy. A case was opened against him after the Monza game but was immediately dismissed. Most likely, his genius worked.
