A section of fans has taken to social media to mock Erling Haaland for allegedly going missing during Manchester City's Champions League cracker against Real Madrid.

Haaland was part of City's squad that settled for a 1-1 draw against the reigning champions in the first leg of the semi-final fixture staged at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

The Norwegian hotshot went into the clash off a fantastic run of form that had seen him score an eyewatering 51 goals across competitions.

The 22-year-old was hoping to continue with his fine run against Real but made little to no impact.

His less influential role in the match earned him criticism from a section of players, who accused him of going missing at Santiago Bernabeu.

@Ashraf_MMY observed:

"Hats off to Rudiger. Nobody is talking about Haaland tonight."

@tchmvnga posted:

"Haaland didn't get to sniff the ball I swear."

@SaucyCHO added:

"Wait, did Haaland have 5 touches? class work from Madrid defence, mainly Rudiger."

@ACrawford1993 joked:

"Haaland saving all his goals for the 2nd leg. Chill out."

How Real v City played out

Meanwhile, there was nothing to separate Man City and Real Madrid when they faced off on Tuesday night.

The two European heavyweights settled for a 1-1 draw, with Vinicius Jr and Kevin De Bruyne finding the back of the net.

Talksport reported that Vinicius opened the scoring with a rocket after 36 minutes against the run of play to put Madrid in the driving seat.

However, Pep Guardiola’s charges weathered the early storm after the break, with De Bruyne’s strike restoring parity.

Aguero slams Pep

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Sergio Aguero was less impressed with a tactical decision made by Pep Guardiola during Real Madrid vs Man City clash.

Guardiola elected not to make a single sub during the cracker, as his charges came from a goal down to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Aguero, a Man City legend, questioned the decision, with the ex-striker insisting Julian Alvarez should have been introduced in the tie.
