  • Paris Saint-Germain has tampered justice with mercy
  • The club suspended Lionel Messi for two weeks after the Argentine travelled to Saudi Arabia without permission
  • But the player in question has resumed training

Lionel Messi has made a swift return to training after Paris Saint-Germain appeared to have reversed their decision to suspend the 2022 World Cup winner.

Messi was slapped with a 2-week game suspension without pay by the club last week after the Argentine playmaker embarked on an unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia.

The punishment ensured the 35-year-old missed out on PSG's 3-1 win at Troyes as Les Parisiens inch closer to a record-extending 11th Ligue 1 title.

He was billed to miss his second successive game against Ajaccio as part of his punishment. However, the club has reversed the decision following a remorseful video of Messi rendering an unqualified apology for his 'irresponsible' action.

His apology has convinced the top hierarchy of the club, which has led to the former Barcelona superstar making a return to training on Monday, talkSPORT reports.

What's next for Messi?

According to Sportstar, Messi is expected to be in action for Paris Saint-Germain in their next league outing when Christophe Galtier's charges play host to lowly-placed AC Ajaccio.

However, it is uncertain if the change of heart by the PSG hierarchy could have an effect on Messi's future. The Argentine's current contract expires in the summer, and he is expected to look elsewhere as he winds down his illustrious career.

Henry reveals PSG's Messi damage

Meanwhile, Thierry Henry has suggested Lionel Messi’s decision to visit Saudi Arabia may have hurt the pride of Paris Saint-Germain’s owners after the Parisians fined the Argentine, Sports Brief reported.

Messi was suspended by PSG and fined two weeks’ wages after he took an unsanctioned trip to the Middle East without the approval of manager Christophe Galtier.

Henry has now revealed that Messi’s decision to visit Saudi Arabia, a country at loggerheads with Qatar, where PSG's owners are from, must have hurt the club's ego.

Messi responds to PSG suspension

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Lionel Messi issuing an apology to his club teammates after he was suspended for missing training.

The Parisiens punished the 2022 World Cup winner after travelling to Saudi Arabia on a sponsored visit.

The Argentina phenom has resorted to social media to respond to the backlash by apologising to the club and his teammates.
