Ghanaian defender, Joseph Aidoo announced his comeback from injury with the match-winner for Celta Vigo in their La Liga clash against and Elche on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old scored from a diving header to secure all three points for the host in the final minute of the game at the Balaidos Stadium.

Aidoo had miss the defeat to Real Madrid over the weekend due to a knock, but passed a late fitness test before the match against Elche.

His return proved crucial as Celta ended a run of poor form, which saw them fail to register a win in their last five games, according to the club's official website.

The Black Stars centre-back has been an important member of the Spanish team this season, scoring his third goal of the campaign last night.

Aidoo, who joined the La Liga side from Belgium outfit, KRC Genk in 2019, has made 30 appearances in the top flight league this season.

He is expected to play a key role as the season nears its end, with only seven games remaining.

Aidoo signs new Celta contract

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Ghana centre-back, Aidoo signing a new deal with La Liga outfit, Celta Vigo after his impressive display in Spain this season.

The 26-year-old has been in top form for the Sky Blues, convincing the club's top hierarchy to reward him by extending his deal until 2026.

Celta Vigo announced the extension of the defender's contract on their official website, at a time when six months were remaining on his original deal.

Aidoo nets Spanish cup winner

Sports Brief also reported on Aidoo returning to action for Celta Vigo, in their Copa Del Rey clash against Gernika.

The Ghanaian international scored for his side as they strolled to victory at the Urbieta Udal Kiroldergia Stadium.

Aidoo, who was a member of Ghana's World Cup squad, netted his side's second goal after the half-time break.
