Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze is currently negotiating a contract extension with Spanish club Villarreal.

It was gathered that the player is yet to reach a final agreement with the La Liga outfit amid interests from Real Madrid.

The winger’s current deal with the Yellow Submarine will expire next year, and so far, nothing has been agreed between the two parties.

Spanish outlet AS reports via Punch that the proposal Yellow Submarine presented to the Nigerian was not convincing enough and this caused him not to accept the new offer putting his future at the club in doubt.

“Villarreal and the footballer’s representative have been sitting for a long time to try to extend the winger’s contract, but these negotiations are not advancing as expected.

“And time is running against the interests of the club, given that, as has been mentioned, he is close to entering the last year of his contract which ends in June 2024.”

The Nigeria international has been an integral part of coach Quique Setien’s side scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists across all competitions this season.

Real want Chukwueze

Meanwhile, Chukwueze is on the radar of Real Madrid after impressing the club during a meeting of both sides last week.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Chukwueze could be tempted to leave Villarreal if he receives an offer from one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
