Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will trade tackles with Brazil at the FIFA U20 World Cup to be hosted in Argentina from May 20 to June 11.

Other teams in Group D are Italy and Dominican Republic, as many already tag it as the 'group of death'.

The Flying Eagles are one of the four African representatives having qualified for the tournament after clinching bronze at the U-20 AFCON held earlier in the year.

The competition will feature six groups of four teams.

Meanwhile, ahead of the competition, the head coach of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso, has invited 39 players to camp.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, 39 players have been invited to the Eagles’ camp, as training started on Monday.

Earlier, Ladan Bosso dropped ten players from the squad for age discrepancies and faulty documentation.

Most of the players that have made the list were from academies rather than those playing in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and the Nigerian League One (NLO).

Asked why players of the NPFL failed to dominate the team, a member of the squad’s backroom staff disclosed to Own Goal that most of the elite league's players were found to be 'above age'.

Despite their impressive performances, it is believed most of these players were screened out as the idea remains to build a team for the future.

GFA reaches out to Sellas Tetteh

Sports Brief earlier reported that the Ghana Football Association through its GFA Foundation, has made a donation of GHC50,000 to former U20 coach, Sellas Tetteh.

The FIFA U20 World Cup winning coach received a delegation led by the president of the GFA, Kurt Okraku at his residence in Accra on Thursday.

Tetteh has been unwell for some time now, leaving many wondering if the federation is aware of his situation.
