  • Pep Guardiola took some time out to hold a conversation with Leroy Sane
  • Sane worked under Guardiola for four years at the Etihad before moving to Bayern Munich
  • Unfortunately for the German winger, Guardiola's Man City edged Bayern to reach the semifinal of the Champions League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola held a heartwarming conversation with Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane after guiding his side to the Champions League semifinal on Wednesday evening.

Guardiola outfoxed Thomas Tuchel in the tactical battle involving two modern rival coaches as Man City punched their ticket to the last four on a 4-1 aggregate win over the Bavarians.

This is the third season in a row the Spanish coach has reached the last four with Man City, setting up a mouthwatering meeting with Real Madrid - a repeat of last season's showdown, which ended in favour of the latter, per Sky Sports.

After completing the mission at the Allianz Arena, Guardiola took time out to bond with Leroy Sane, whom he coached at Man City between 2016 and 2020.

Sane himself endured a sub-par performance across two legs and will now turn his attention to the Bundesliga as Bayern aim to salvage what has been an utterly disappointing end to the season.

The pair held what appeared to be a wholesome conversation which left Sane visibly emotional, the Sun reports.

Pep makes honest UCL admission

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has revealed that Real Madrid is the team to beat if Manchester City stands a chance of winning their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy, Sports Brief reported.

The Citizens will face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals for the second consecutive season after they comfortably dispatched Bayern Munich 4-1 on aggregate in the Last eight.

Guardiola has now admitted Real Madrid, and not Barcelona, is now the bogey team in the Champions League that intending winners must have to overcome.

Sane, Mane in awkward moment

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane - the two players involved in an alleged altercation last week - made the headlines yet again during Bayern Munich's Champions League quarterfinal reverse fixture at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The pair shared an awkward moment when Mane came on as a second-half substitute for the German winger. It was the ex-Liverpool icon's first game after he was suspended by the club for reportedly punching Sane.

Mane attempted to give Sane a double high five, but the latter appeared to be disinterested, instead opting to tap the incoming forward's hand, Mirror reports.
