Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has come up with an interesting take on Lisandro Martinez’s injury incident.
The Red Devils were dealt a major blow as Martinez, who has been instrumental for United in defence since signing from Ajax incurred an injury
Erik Ten Hag had already been forced to cope with the sudden injury of Raphael Varane, who was replaced by Harry Maguire at halftime.
United were dealt a double blow as Martinez went down on the ground untouched in the 86th minute while holding the back of his ankle.
Interesting scenes ensued soon after as the defender was carried off the pitch by Sevilla duo Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel.
While it initially looked like a moment of class from the Sevilla players, one former Manchester United player begs to differ.

According to former Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, there was a lack of leadership from Red Devils players, who should have controlled not only the Martinez situation, but the game in general.
"It looks like Sevilla players are nice carrying him off the pitch. No, they wanted him out so they could get going. United players should have stopped that, that's a lack of leadership on the pitch. Harry Maguire should have managed that situation." Schmeichel said as quoted on @Unitedstand.
“It’s 2-2 and as a Man Utd supporter, I’m really disappointed. This could and should have been a 5-0 win.”
