The former Real Valladolid defender is believed to be reluctant in committing to his future at Saint Mary's with a little over 12 months remaining on his current deal.

And with Manchester United and Newcastle United reportedly interested in his services, Salisu could be forcing his way out of the club this summer as Southampton stares at relegation.

Meanwhile, The Sun reveals Salisu's previous agency JM 10, has been acquired by CAA Base, leading to prolonged talks over a new deal.

Salisu has made 28 appearances for the Saints in the English Premier League.

He joined Southampton in the summer of 2020 from Spanish outfit Real Valladolid.

Newcastle United interested in Salisu

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars centre-back, Mohammed Salisu has popped up on the radar of Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Southampton defender is reportedly on the wish list of the Magpies' manager, Eddie Howe after trying to sign him in January.

Salisu has been a rock in defence for the Saints despite their struggles this season.

Antonio names Salisu as toughest opponent

West Ham United striker, Michail Antonio has disclosed that Ghana and Southampton centre-back, Mohammed Salisu is the toughest player he has faced in the English Premier League.

Antonio is regarded as one of the strongest players to defend against in the English topflight league.

However, he always finds it difficult playing Salisu anytime West Ham engages Southampton. The last time the two sides met it ended in a 1-1 draw, with the Black Stars defender nullifying the Jamaican.
