West Ham United striker, Michail Antonio has disclosed that Ghana and Southampton centre-back, Mohammed Salisu is the toughest player he has faced in the English Premier League.

Antonio is regarded as one of the strongest player's to defend against in the English topflight league.

However, he always finds it difficult playing Salisu anytime West Ham engages Southampton. The last time the two sides met it ended in a 1-1 draw, with the Black Stars defender nullifying the Jamaican.

"Salisu, he is a rash. He is like all over you. He didn't give me an inch. He was all over me," said Antonio to the Footballers Football Podcast, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.

Salisu joined the Saints in the summer of 2020 from Spanish club Real Valladolid and has since established himself as one of the best defenders in the league.

The 23-year-old has been a regular for Southampton in a very tough campaign as the St Mary's outfit battle for survival.

Salisu missed the 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea due to a knock he suffered in training. He is expected to be back for the trip to Elland Road against Leeds United.

French giants show interest in Salisu

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars defender, Mohammed Salisu is attracting interest from French clubs AS Monaco and Olympique Marseille in the winter transfer window.

The 23-year-old Southampton man could make a move to Ligue 1, as both clubs seek to strengthen their teams for the rest of the campaign.

According to Jeunes Footeux, Monaco wants the Ghanaian as a replacement for Benoit Badiashile, who joined Chelsea in January in a €40-million deal.

Salisu scores first World Cup goal

Southampton have reacted to the performance of Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu, after he netted his first World Cup goal as the Black Stars defeated South Korea.

The Southampton centre-back opened the scoring for the West African nation, who secured a 3-2 victory after a thrilling contest at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

A brace from Mohammed Kudus - despite a double from South Korea's Cho Gue-sung - ensured the Black Stars climbed to second position in Group H.
